Yellow Pig Day Card - Day of the Month Card Club Challenge #5

I have found a new challenge and thought that it would be good to use some of the stamps in my stash!
The new challenge is Day of the Month Card Club and the latest challenge is about Yellow Pig Day.

I recently received the latest Club La-La Land Crafts stamp and die set - which is a great one for me as it is about coffee! But that is another card....I also received the two months that I was missing as PayPal for some reason decided to readdress them to my old address and then they were not redirected to our new address. But the wonderful Irina at La-La Land received them back and then sent them on to me! Thanks Irina!
So I have used the pigs from the May 2019 Club La-La Land, which also contains Doctor Marci and three cute pigs that each have ailments!
So here is my card:

I have stamped the three pigs and the sentiment using my MISTI and Tuxedo Black Memento ink on to X-Press It blending card.
Then I have used the following Copics:
  • pig on left - Y00, Y02, Y06, Y08, RV23, B00, B02 (pig); RV21, RV23 (icepack); C0, C1, E84, E87 (tissue/tissue-box); BG10, BG13, BG15 (pillow/sheet); C0, C1, C2 (bed); B16 (thermometer)
  • pig in middle - YR20, YR21, Y23, YR24, RV23, B00, B02 (pig); BG75, BG78 (sling); E84, E87 (crutch); RV21, RV23 (bandaid)
  • pig on right - Y00, Y02, Y06, Y08, RV23, RV21, RV23 (pig); C0, C1, Y26, Y28 (drip/drip-stand); BG10, BG13, BG15 (gown)
  • background - BV20, BV23, BV25 (wall); E31, E33, E35, E37 (floor)
I have then adhered my coloured image using double-sided tape to a white card from Envelope Solutions.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Knitty Kitty Digis for Colour Crazy Challenge for the 19th of July, 2019

At Colour Crazy Challenge we are being sponsored by Knitty Kitty Digis and the image I chose was Did someone say cream cake? A very cute image of three kitties lined up, peaking around a corner. It made me think of "Welcome Home", as that is what our two kitties do when we come home - they appear from around the corner, or they are already waiting at the door!

So I have made a Welcome Home card!

I have digitally printed the three cute kitties on to X-Press It Blending card and then because my Silhouette Cameo is not hooked up to my computer at the moment, I have just cut out the image with my paper cutter. Although I had to trim it with my fussy cutting scissors.
I have used the following Copics markers to colour the image:
  • tabby kitty at the top - E41, E43, E44, E47, R11, R20, colourless blender for texture
  • tortoiseshell kitty in the middle - E31, E35, E37, W1, W3, W5, W7, R11, R20
  • lilac/grey kitty at the bottom with the fish - BV000, BV20, BV00, W3, W5
  • fish - Y21, YR04, YR09
  • door on right - B12, B14, B16
  • wall on left - BG000, BG01, BG02, colourless blender for texture
  • outline - B16
The colours and techniques for colouring the kitties came from the All About Animals Class by the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder. For the tabby kitty, I used some colourless blender with a piece of terry cloth to have a different texture, then finished with some more strokes of colour.
I also added a blue sequin with Cosmic Stickles to act as a door knob to the image.

I have gone pretty simple with the design of the card. I used two sentiments, one from Vibrant Thanks by Power Poppy, which I stamped with Nautical Blue Memento ink using my MISTI on to the Kraft card from Envelope Solutions. Then a second sentiment - Welcome from the April 2015 Club La-La Land Crafts kit, which I also stamped in Nautical Blue Memento ink, but on to some water colour paper that I brushed with tumbled glass Distress Ink and then cut with some fancy scalloped scissors to fit a kraft banner that I die cut from a new banner die cut from Close to My Heart which is included in the new Share the Joy Stamps + Thin Cuts. I outlined the kraft banner with Nautical Blue Memento ink.

Here is a close-up of the colouring:

Not Just Cards - July 2019 Challenge

Not Just Cards is having a new challenge this month and as usual the theme for the July 2019 Challenge is "ANYTHING GOES".

To join in the fun, click on the following link:

I have tried a different colouring medium this month! I was inspired by Carly Tee who was part of the Power Poppy/Ellen Hutson Blog Hop last week showcasing the new Power Poppy Stamps - can't wait to get my hands on them!!
Anyway, Carly used distress markers to ink up one of the new stamps and then misted with water before stamping. I tried that and it was a bit watery, so I ended up just stamping after I had coloured with the distress markers.
So here is one of the finished cards:
I have stamped the beautiful Dahlia XL flower and leaves from the wonderfully creative Marcella at Power Poppy using the following Tim Holtz Distress Ink Markers:
  • purples -  wilted violet, seedless preserves, dusty concord
  • pinks - spun sugar, worn lipstick, picked raspberry
  • greens - twisted citron, mowed lawn, lucky clover
  • blues - salty ocean, mermaid lagoon
I have used watercolour paper from Aldi! I originally stamped using some of the distress markers and then I have water-coloured the Dahlia flower and leaves with some of the other colours mentioned.
I have fussy cut the flower and leaves, then adhered them to a white square card from Envelope Solutions using glue dots (easier than double-sided tape!).

I have stamped the quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson -
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us" which is from Good Thinking: Renewal, also from Power Poppy using my MISTI and Elderberry Memento ink.

Here are a few progression shots and a photo of one of the others that I coloured using the same technique, but I think I will just fussy cut it and use, rather than mess up the beautiful graduation of colour from the stamping. Also my first attempt with the misting of water.

Garden Chair Gathering - A Day for Daisies - Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Challenge #109 for 7th of July, 2019

I am now a member of the Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Design Team! :)

So this is my first challenge and I have chosen the Garden Chair Gathering - I was drawn to the birds and chairs and it reminded me of all the birds that we have here and the fact that I often sit on our steps and listen to the birds!
Anyway, here is my card:

I have digitally printed Garden Chair Gathering on X-Press It Blending Card and then as I am still trying to set up my craft room I have cut out the image using my paper cutter.
Then I have coloured with the following Copics pens:
  • chairs - V20, V22, V25, V28, B12, B14, B16, B18, B39
  • birds - R24, R29, R56
  • background - BG000, BG01, BG02
I tried to colour the base of the chairs to make them look like coloured metal - but the area was too small! This idea came from one of the techniques booklets - Metal Effects - we have received from Alyce from Kit and Clowder for doing our monthly classes. I think I will try it on another stamp with a bit more space!!

I have used the same colours (B12, B14, B16, B18, B39) on the sentiment piece, but then I realised it was a little dark, especially down the bottom, so I went over with my colourless blender to lighten it a bit. The sentiment is from the wonderful Marcella's Camellias Digital Stamp Set by Power Poppy.

I adhered both the sentiment and coloured image to a rectangle card from Envelope Solutions using double-sided tape.

I tried to colour some dew drops with my favourite B16 Copic pen, but it didn't really work, so I found some blue sequins from my stash to add in the corners.

Here is a close-up of the colouring:

The sponsor for this challenge is A Day for Daisies and the prize is a $12 Gift Certificate.
