Use Ribbon, Twine or Lace - Winter Wonderland Challenge for the 4th of August, 2017

Can you believe that it is already August! This year, as usual has flown by - lucky I have been keeping up with my Christmas Cards, although most of the time I find I do not want to give them away, so I have a mad dash to do something else!

Anyway, on to this fortnight's challenge at Winter Wonderland blog.
This time we are hosted by the lovely Christine, who would like us to "use ribbon, twine or lace" on our Christmas projects.

So hopefully this project I will actually give away at the end of the year, as it is so easy to make! Also, I can keep them as tags, or I can add the tags to a card for a more complete look, similar to these two cards here and here.

So here are two tags from a series of my Christmas Tags using Power Poppy stamps:

Here is a close up of the Snowman tag:

Here is a close of the Tree in a Cup tag:

The Snowman from Let's Chill has been digitally printed on watercolour paper, cut out with my Silhouette Cameo and then coloured with Distress Markers, but I have no idea which colours! (I have a book that I write my colour combinations, but I don't always keep it up-to-date - I'll have to do better!!)

I have stamped the Tree in a Cup from Cozy Cupfuls Stamp Set with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on to X-Press It card, fussy cut it and then coloured it with the following Copic Markers:
  • greens - YG00, YG61, YG63, YG67
  • reds - R22, R24, R27, R29
  • browns - E40, E41, E43, E44
  • greys - W0, W1, W3
  • gold - gold Spica pen
  • glitter - clear Wink of Stella

Finally I have adhered the coloured images to red tags from my stash (bought long ago!) using foam squares and rounds.

The spotted evergreen ribbon tied in a bow is from Anita's Everyday Ribbons, also from my stash.

I am going to do some more tags and so will add another post!

This fortnight, we are sponsored by Crafty Ribbons.

The winner will receive a 10 pound gift voucher to spend instore.

"Crafty Ribbons is a ribbon emporium; we are passionate about ribbons and want to share our fantastic ribbons with others. Our range of Christmas ribbons is second to none. Need a little bit of ribbon inspiration? Have a look at our projects on our blog, or visit our Inspiration blog, or maybe join in with our Ribbon Challenge on Facebook. Go on, have a look... It's worth it!"

I would like to enter both tags into the following challenges:

Add Snowflakes - Winter Wonderland Challenge for the 9th of June, 2017

For the next two weeks at Winter Wonderland, we are hosted by Cindy, who has chosen the theme: ADD SNOWFLAKES.

So here is my card:

I used Digi Star of Wonder from our sponsor, Little Claire Designs.
I have digitally printed the digi stamp on to X-Press It card and then coloured it using the following Copics markers:
  • polar bears: C1, colourless blender
  • blue/green scarf: BG53, BG45, BG57, Wink of Stella
  • purple scarf: V22, V25, V28, Wink of Stella
  • star: Y08, Wink of Stella
  • ground: C1, C2, Wink of Stella
  • night sky: B91, B93, B95, B97, B99
I then used a decorative nesting frame die from KaiserCraft to cut out the image as my Silhouette Cameo is playing up :(
I have then embossed a piece of glitter core essentials cardstock using an embossing folder called Winter Chill, distributed by ultimate crafts (a freebie from a magazine).
I also die cut the snowflake flurry from November 2016 Club La-La Land Crafts from glitter core essentials cardstock.

The embossed piece was adhered to a white card from Envelope Solutions, then I adhered the coloured piece and the snowflake flurry.

As I mentioned, our sponsor for this challenge is Little Claire Designs, who are giving the winner 3 digital stamps of their choice.

Anything Christmas Goes - Tribute Challenge for Winter Wonderland's Eileen for 17th of February 2017

For the next two weeks at Winter Wonderland, we are hosted by Helen.

As regular followers of our challenge blog will know, our blog owner and coordinator Eileen sadly passed away recently. This challenge is our tribute to her and all the hard work and time she put into running the challenge blog. As it's a special challenge, both teams are joining in.

And so the theme for this challenge is simply:

Anything Christmas Goes

....so we want to see all your Christmas projects!

For this challenge, we are sponsored by Little Claire Designs, who are giving 3 digi stamps to the winner

Little Claire Designs is based on the Wirral in the north west of England and is owned and run by Steve and Gill. They sell a range of great stamps, digis, outline stickers, ready to use images, papers and other goodies.
You may well have seen Steve at craft shows up and down the country and most recently you will have seen him on Hochanda for Little Claire's debut show. Steve is back on the TV again on Monday 20th of March for two shows!

They also host regular craft classes (run by Helen!!) on the Wirral - take a look at the website if you fancy a fun day out with good company and lots of card making.

So on to my card. As I have always wanted to have a drink with Eileen and the February theme at Christmas Card Throwdown is "Drinks", I thought I would use a stamp of a polar bear with a mug of something warm from The Greeting Farm from Let It Snow. So I stamped him using Tuxedo Black Memento ink on to X-Press It paper.

I coloured the background of the square card from Envelope Solutions using Copics:
BG02, B16, B29 and B69.
The snow is texture paste using the Falling Snow stencil from Simon Says Stamp.
The original idea for this background came from Kathy at the Daily Marker during one of her colouring challenges. I know I have used this background before, but I just love it and it is quick and easy! But this time I have used gloss texture paste - Ranger Texture Paste Transparent Gloss.
So hopefully we will see a bit of gloss!

I have coloured the polar bear with the following Copics:
C00, C3 and RV10 for the cheeks and ears.
For the mug, I started with B14, but then it caused a huge blob of ink on the bear's left paw.....so I finished with B16 and B18, then I went over with B12 to lighten it up a little.
The hot chocolate is E23.
The plaid scarf is B41 for the base, then I drew lines of R29 and YG17. I went back over with R29 for more definition.
I have also used black Wink of Stella on his nose and eyes, then clear Wink of Stella on the red of the plaid and middle of the mug. I used green Wink of Stella on the plaid and blue Wink of Stella on the outside of the mug and handle.
I have then fussy cut the polar bear and outlined him with my Memento Dual Marker - unfortunately, I slipped as I was going around the inside of his legs and now he has a scar! :?

For the sentiment, I stamped Let's be Merry from the Let It Snow stamp set with Cottage Ivy Memento ink on to some scrap X-Press It paper, which I then die cut using a decorative die from KaiserCraft. I outlined the sentiment piece with BG02.

I then adhered both the polar bear and sentiment piece with foam squares to add some more dimension.

So here is my finished card - I was able to take the photo outside, as it is during the day!

Unfortunately, you can't see any sparkle from the Wink of Stella, also the glossy texture paste isn't as distinctive as the regular stuff - I will use the regular stuff for snow next time!

I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Creative Inspirations #268 - anything goes
ABC Christmas Challenge - C for creature and D for dimension
Crafty Cardmakers #182 - add some texture
Do-Al(l) Kreatives #2 - winter time
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge Extra Feb 2017 - anything goes as long as it is Christmas
Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge #321 - anything goes as long as it is Christmas

Poinsettias or Snow is Falling - Winter Wonderland Challenge for the 18th of November

The next two weeks on Winter Wonderland, we are hosted by me! :)
I have chosen the themes: Poinsettias or Snow is Falling.
So this means that you create a Christmas Project with the beautiful Christmas flowers Poinsettias, or you create a project where we can see that snow is falling, or snow has fallen. Or you can try and include both themes!

For this challenge, we have the wonderful sponsor:
Crafty Sentiments Designs, who are offering the lucky winner a choice of 3 digi stamps from their website

Please remember that to be in with a chance of winning a prize that it is Christmas Projects only.

So on to my card.

I have been waiting for the right moment to use this beautiful poinsettias stamp from the Poinsettia Stamp Set by Power Poppy.
Here is a close up of the colouring:

I stamped the poinsettia on to X-Press It card using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. I then coloured it with the following Copics Pens:
poinsettia - RV02, RV13, RV14, RV17, RV66, YG00, YG11, G21, pink Wink of Stella pen, yellow Wink of Stella pen
leaves of poinsettia - YG11, G21, G82, G94, G17, G99, green Wink of Stella pen
greenery - BG96, G29, green Wink of Stella pen
pomegranates - R83, R85, R89, pink Wink of Stella pen, yellow Wink of Stella pen
leaves of pomegranates - YG11, G82, G85, G99, green Wink of Stella pen
background - BV00, BV02

I have cut out the poinsettia with some of the background, so no real fussy cutting this week!

Then I have followed Sketch #438 from Sketch Saturday.

I have cut a piece of pink glitter cardstock from Core'dinations for the triangle and adhered it to a white card from Envelope Solutions. Then adhered the poinsettia on top. I have stamped the sentiment "Merry Christmas Wishes" from a new stamp set by Power Poppy - Simple Joys using Cottage Ivy Memento Ink in the bottom right corner. Then I have coloured some Rhinestones from KaiserCraft using my RV66 Copic pen and attached them to the card in the top right corner.

I suppose I had better show you the final card!
Here it is:

I hope that you can see the glittery sparkle on the colouring.

I would also like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Weekly Christmas Card Challenges - glitter

Power & Spark Challenge at Power Poppy - Think Pink

There is inspiration from the Snowflakes DT over on the Winter Wonderland blog, so please pop over to everyone's blog by clicking on their name. We always appreciate a comment or two! :)

Use White and one other colour or A little bird told me - Winter Wonderland Challenge for the 26th of August

So today it is my turn to host the challenge at Winter Wonderland.
The theme I have chosen is:
"White with one other colour"
or
"a little birdie told me"

This means that you can make a Christmas project with white and one other colour, or something with a little birdie, or both.
I have used a digital stamp that I have used before that has a snowman and a little birdie and I have coloured this with a few other colours, as it is hard to stick to one colour!
So my card fits the "A little birdie told me" theme.
Here it is:

I printed the stamp "Joy of Christmas" by Crafty Sentiments Designs on to X-Press It paper, cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo, then coloured it using the following Copics pens:
  • hat: C3, C5, C7, C10, black Wink of Stella, clear Wink of Stella
  • snowman: C00, C0, C1, C2
  • snowman's cheeks: R20
  • snowman's nose: YR09
  • snowman's mouth: RV17
  • snowman's stick arms: E37
  • snowman's scarf: R35, R37, R29, clear Wink of Stella
  • little bird: R27, R37, E74, YR09
  • tree: YG06, YG09, G05, G17, G29
  • star: Y28, gold Wink of Stella
  • snow: C00, C0, C1, BV0000
  • background: B000
I then adhered a piece of paper from Holly Bright by Kaisercraft to a Kraft card from Envelope Solutions. I also adhered a red snowflake ribbon and "merry christmas" ribbon, both from American Crafts "Father Christmas" double-sided ribbon.
The snowman and little birdie were adhered using pop dots.

For the layout, I used the ABC Christmas Challenge - Q is for Quick Layout.
Also I'll enter this card into the August Rudolph Days Challenge.

We have two sponsors this week:
Crafty Sentiments, who are offering the winner their choice of 3 digis

and The Craft Barn, who are giving the winner a 10 pound voucher.

Please remember that to be in with a chance of winning a prize that it is Christmas Projects only.

There is inspiration from the Snowflakes DT over on the Winter Wonderland blog, so please pop over to everyone's blog by clicking on their name. We always appreciate a comment or two! :)

Baubles - Winter Wonderland Card Challenge for 8th of April 2016

The challenge this week at Winter Wonderland chosen by Carol is
"Baubles".

This means that you must include a bauble somewhere on your card, or make the card the shape of a bauble.

The sponsor this week is Crafty Sentiments.
They are offering the winner a choice of three digis from their online store.
To be in with a chance of winning a prize, please remember that it is Christmas projects only.

Here is my card:

The image I used this week is Joy of Christmas, a cute snowman next to a Christmas tree with a bird on one of his arms. I added some baubles to the tree and one on his arm.
I printed the image on X-Press It paper and coloured with the following Copic pens:
  • snowman - C0, C1, C2
  • scarf - YG13, G05, G17
  • hat - C3, C5, C7, C10, black Wink of Stella, clear Wink of Stella
  • carrot nose - YR09
  • mouth - RV17
  • arms - E39
  • bird - R27, R37, E74, YR09
  • Christmas tree - E39, YG06, YG09, G05, G17, G29
  • star on Christmas tree - Y28, gold Wink of Stella
  • baubles - purple Wink of Stella, silver Wink of Stella
  • snow - BV0000, C0, C1, clear Wink of Stella
  • clouds - B60, E93, BG0000
  • sky - YR14, Y17, Y15, Y00, BG000, B00
The idea for the clouds and sky came from Alyce's Sunset Scene from Kit and Clowder's latest class - Elements of Nature.

I have stamped the sentiment "May Your Days Be Merry & Bright" from the clear stamp set "Poinsettia" from Power Poppy in Bamboo Leaves Memento ink on to a white card from Envelope Solutions.
I cut and adhered a piece of green paper from Holly Bright from KaiserCraft. Then I adhered my coloured Joy of Christmas Snowman on top using pop dots.

I have sort of used the sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches from this week.
Also I have used both green and gold which is the ABC Christmas Challenge for this week.
My card also fits in with the sketch challenge #67 on Always Playing with Paper.

There is inspiration from the Snowflakes DT on the Winter Wonderland blog, so please pop over to everyone's blog by clicking their name. We always appreciate a comment or two! :) Also you can find out what other challenges are out there, which could give you ideas.
