Paper Strips Instead of Ribbon for Let's Craft and Create Challenge #199 on the 5th of September, 2023

For this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog we have the optional theme of

Paper Strips instead of Ribbon

I decided to use a few scraps or strips of paper from La-La Land Crafts that have been left over from some of my projects.

So here is my card:

I have used strips of paper from Awakening Paper Pack by La-La Land Crafts and adhered them with glue on to a Kraft card from Envelope Solutions.
I then die cut Stitched Hello from December 2018 Club La-La Land Crafts kit in pink cardstock and used a heart that was die cut from the Desk Accessories from September 2020 Club La-La Land Crafts kit (it was on my workspace from my last card!)

I added some clear Wink of Stella to the heart and the letters, but I think that particular pen is running low on glittery goodness - will have to break out a new one!

Here is a close-up photo in different lighting you can see the sparkle I added to the heart and the letters:

I would like to enter this card into a few challenges:
Crafting Happiness Challenge #146 - September Anything Goes
Mix It Up Challenge MIUCB #67 - Anything Goes with the option of Make Your Own Background

Let's Craft and Create Challenges are monthly and go live on the 5th of every month and you have until the end of the month to add your creations which can be anything goes plus an optional theme.

There is inspiration from the rest of the Let's Craft and Create DT over on the Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog, so please pop over to everyone's blog by clicking on their name. We always appreciate a comment or two! :) You can also find out what other challenges are out there, which could give you some ideas for your card stash.

Here is my completed card:

I chose to use Mycroft, which I have digitally printed the image on to X-Press It Blending card and then coloured with the following Copics markers:

I have fussy cut out Mycroft and his puddle of water, then stamped the Comfy Chair from the August 2020 Club La-La Land Crafts kit on to some yellow patterned paper from my stash using Rich Cocoa Memento ink. Then I have die cut the Retro Lamp, Retro Desk and Desk Accessories from the September 2020 Club La-La Land Crafts kit on to some white cardstock before colouring with the following Copics markers:
  • books - BG01, R14, BV08, C7
  • desk/lamp base - E23, E25, E27
  • lamp/cup - YR02, YR04, YR09

  • pencil cup/ruler - BG0000, BG000
  • pen - E43

To put my card together, I have cut and adhered a piece of the Merry & Bright Paper Pack from La-La Land Crafts and on to a white square card from Envelope Solutions.
Then I have adhered the lamp, monitor, cups, ruler, pen, desk and chair with double-sided tape and glue on to the card, followed by Mycroft and the books with foam tape. The little water droplets I have adhered with glue.

I could not really think of a sentiment! But there is a space to put one if someone can suggest something!!

As usual, I have taken inspiration from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder and her fantastic monthly classes and bonus classes.

Here are some photos of the layout with all the pieces diecut and then coloured:

August 2023 Card Chain Card Reveal

I signed up again for the Card Chain Challenge! Essentially you sign up and make a card that you send to the person before you in the sign up and the person that signed up after you, sends you a card!

For August 2023, I made a card to send to Chris in Illinois - this is wh
at I sent her:

Here are the options that we had to make the card:

Theme Options: CAS / Fruit and/or Veg / Friendship

Product / Technique Options: Vellum / Stencil

I have used the colour palette and sketch for inspiration, as well I started out with the CAS option, but then veered to a stencil to add some more colour! Also I want to start to use some of the inks and stencils from my stash!

I have used Chinese Lantern from Power Poppy. I have digitally printed the image a while ago and this month coloured it with the following Copics markers:
  • light green - YG00, YG11, YG23, YG25
  • darker green - G20, G21, G24, G28
  • orange - YR02, R14, YR09
  • pale yellow - YR00, Y21, Y32
  • brown - E23, E25, E27
  • purple - BV000, BV00
  • outline - BV25, BV08
I die cut the coloured image using the largest Scalloped Rectangles Die from La-La Land Crafts. Then I used the following Distress Oxide inks with the Falling for Fall Layering Stencil also by La-La Land Crafts:
  • mowed lawn
  • picked raspberry
  • squeezed lemonade
  • twisted citron
  • wild honey

I stencilled on to a Kraft card from Envelope Solutions. Then I positioned the coloured image on to the card - after taking a few photos I added some glitter using my newly purchased nuvo glitter markers that are on my work area - I haven't even put them away yet! The colours are sweet apricot, morning moss and urban graphite.

Here is a photo before I added the glitter:

Also, here is a photo of the image after I die cut it and before I adhered it to the card:

Here is a photo of the image before it was die cut:

As I was trying to stick to the colour palette, I found inspiration from Julie Koerber, one of the Power Poppy DT and as usual, from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder and her fantastic monthly classes.

I would like to add this card to the following challenges:
Crafting Happiness Challenge #146 - September Anything Goes
Mix It Up Challenge MIUCB #67 - Anything Goes with the option of Make Your Own Background

I hope that Chris likes the card, I was a little late organising myself and posting it as I have hurt my medial ligament (inside of the knee) dashing across the road and so I am quite exhausted from limping around and then travelling for work!

Thanks for looking!

Polka Dots and/or Stripes for Let's Craft and Create Challenge #198 on the 5th of August, 2023

For this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog we have the optional theme of

Polka Dots and/or Stripes

I decided to colour a few Winter Hippos from La-La Land Crafts and then use some of the dies I have been meaning to use.

So here is my card:

I have stamped the three hippos from the Winter Hippos Clear Stamp Set by La-La Land Crafts on to X-Press It Blending card using London Fog Memento ink and then coloured the Hippo with the star with Copic inks as follows:
  • hippos - E40, E41, E43, E44, R30
  • hooves and teeth - BV20, BV23, colourless blender
  • eyes - BV29
  • blue scarf - B12, B14, B16, B18
  • lilac hat - V000, V01, V04, V06
  • star - YR21, YR23, clear Wink of Stella
I have used dies from La-La Land CraftsI have die cut the Staircase die twice - once in white cardstock and once in Kraft cardstock and glued them together, but slightly offset. The garland from the same Staircase die, I have die cut three times in green cardstock, then die cut the bow three times in gold cardstock. I have die cut the Christmas Tree with Trimmings in one of the green spotted papers from the Christmas Hodgepodge Paper Pack. Then die cut the little photo frames from the Staircase die in the other side of the green spotted paper from Christmas Hodgepodge Paper Pack.

To bring everything together: I have stamped the sentiment from Winter Hippos Clear Stamp Set using Elderberry Memento ink on to the staircase, then adhered a striped paper from Christmas Hodgepodge Paper Pack on to a white square card from Envelope Solutions. I then used double sided tape on the back of the Christmas Tree and turned all the ornaments around and adhered them back into place. I tried colouring them with clear Wink of Stella, but I think I need a new one! I then adhered the Christmas Tree behind the staircase, adhered the green garland with the gold bows on to the balustrade.
As I thought it was missing something in the top corner, I added the photo frames - I used washi tape from my stash (I think it was from OfficeWorks!) under two of the frames and then turned the paper around for the other two.

Here is a close-up photo of all three hippos - I haven't finished colouring the one with the lamp:

Here is the layout of the card before I attached the hippo and "photo frames":

and after I adhered everything:

As usual, I have taken inspiration from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder and definitely used some inspiration from the cards of the La-La Land Crafts Design Team on the La-La Land Crafts blog and Facebook.

I would like to enter this card into a few challenges:

For this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog we have the optional theme of

Add Flowers

I decided to use some of the awesome sunflowers from Power Poppy that I have already printed and cut out a few years ago with my Cameo Silhouette plus some of my stash from La-La Land Crafts.

So here is my card:

As I mentioned above, I have digitally printed Sunflower Power Digital Stamp from Power Poppy on to X-Press It Blending card, cut it out with my Silhouette Cameo and then coloured with Copic inks as follows:
  • orange - YR12, YR14, YR16
  • yellow - Y13, Y19
  • green - YG11, YG23, YG25, YG67
  • centre - E13, E25, E33, E08
  • blue - BG0000, BG000, BG01
  • outline - BG01
I have stamped on to a white card from Envelope Solutions the Hello Lovely Background Stamp from La-La Land Crafts using Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink and the top of my MISTI. Then once that had dried, I stamped two butterflies from Pure Prairie Spirit Clear Stamp Set by the wonderful Marcella at Power Poppy which unfortunately has been discontinued, but there is a digital stamp called Pure Prairie Bouquet. I stamped the butterflies in Bahama Blue and Elderberry Memento ink using my MISTI and then stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set using Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.

Here is a close-up photo of the sunflower after it was coloured:

Here is the layout of the card before I attached the sunflowers:
