Polka Dots and/or Stripes for Let's Craft and Create Challenge #198 on the 5th of August, 2023

For this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog we have the optional theme of

Polka Dots and/or Stripes

I decided to colour a few Winter Hippos from La-La Land Crafts and then use some of the dies I have been meaning to use.

So here is my card:

I have stamped the three hippos from the Winter Hippos Clear Stamp Set by La-La Land Crafts on to X-Press It Blending card using London Fog Memento ink and then coloured the Hippo with the star with Copic inks as follows:
  • hippos - E40, E41, E43, E44, R30
  • hooves and teeth - BV20, BV23, colourless blender
  • eyes - BV29
  • blue scarf - B12, B14, B16, B18
  • lilac hat - V000, V01, V04, V06
  • star - YR21, YR23, clear Wink of Stella
I have used dies from La-La Land CraftsI have die cut the Staircase die twice - once in white cardstock and once in Kraft cardstock and glued them together, but slightly offset. The garland from the same Staircase die, I have die cut three times in green cardstock, then die cut the bow three times in gold cardstock. I have die cut the Christmas Tree with Trimmings in one of the green spotted papers from the Christmas Hodgepodge Paper Pack. Then die cut the little photo frames from the Staircase die in the other side of the green spotted paper from Christmas Hodgepodge Paper Pack.

To bring everything together: I have stamped the sentiment from Winter Hippos Clear Stamp Set using Elderberry Memento ink on to the staircase, then adhered a striped paper from Christmas Hodgepodge Paper Pack on to a white square card from Envelope Solutions. I then used double sided tape on the back of the Christmas Tree and turned all the ornaments around and adhered them back into place. I tried colouring them with clear Wink of Stella, but I think I need a new one! I then adhered the Christmas Tree behind the staircase, adhered the green garland with the gold bows on to the balustrade.
As I thought it was missing something in the top corner, I added the photo frames - I used washi tape from my stash (I think it was from OfficeWorks!) under two of the frames and then turned the paper around for the other two.

Here is a close-up photo of all three hippos - I haven't finished colouring the one with the lamp:

Here is the layout of the card before I attached the hippo and "photo frames":

and after I adhered everything:

As usual, I have taken inspiration from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder and definitely used some inspiration from the cards of the La-La Land Crafts Design Team on the La-La Land Crafts blog and Facebook.

I would like to enter this card into a few challenges:
Let's Craft and Create Challenges are monthly and go live on the 5th of every month and you have until the end of the month to add your creations which can be anything goes plus an optional theme.

There is inspiration from the rest of the Let's Craft and Create DT over on the Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog, so please pop over to everyone's blog by clicking on their name. Frame It for Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog on the 5th of September, 2022

Apologies, but life has just been crazy - we have had crazy cold weather and our study with my computer is on the cold side of the house, so it is just not a place that I want to sit!
So here is a very basic version of my post:

Anyway, for this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog we have the optional theme of

Frame It! Use a Frame

Here is my card:

Here is another photo:

I have stamped the critters from Best Day Ever from La-La Land Crafts with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on to X-Press It Blending card and then coloured with Copics pens. There are some outline dies for this set: Best Day Ever Outline Dies, so I have used those!

I have die cut some white card stock using the Linked Squares die from La-La Land Crafts for my frame and used foam tape to give it dimension.

I have adhered a paper from the Celebrate Paper Pack from La-La Land Crafts on to a Kraft card from Envelope Solutions using double-sided tape. Then stamped the show-ground silhouette image from
Best of Times Clear Stamp Set from La-La Land Crafts using Nautical Blue Memento ink.

For the sentiment, I die cut one of the ribbons from Stitched Ribbon Dies and stamped the sentiment from Best Day Ever from La-La Land Crafts in Nautical Blue Memento ink.

Here is photo of the layout:

Here is a photo of two of the critters before they were die cut:

As usual I found inspiration from the La-La Land Crafts DT, who showcased some awesome projects on the La-La Land Crafts blog and as usual, from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder and her fantastic monthly classes.

I would like to add this card to the following challenges:

February 2022 Card Chain Challenge Reveal

I signed up again for the Card Chain Challenge! Essentially you sign up and make a card that you send to the person before you in the sign up and the person that signed up after you, sends you a card!

For February I made a card to send to Nat in Canada - this is what I sent her:

Here are the options that we had to make the card:

Theme Options: Hearts / Mushrooms / Friendship

Product / Technique Options: Paint / Shaped Card

I chose the mushrooms, the colours (sort of) and sort of the sketch!

I have used Ferns and Fungi stamp from the wonderful Marcella at Power Poppy, along with one of the sentiments. This beautiful stamp and sentiment are actually part of a set of clear stamps called Woodland Carpet that is now not available. I die cut the image using one of the rectangles from Scalloped Rectangles Die set from La-La Land Crafts. Then I have used a scalloped circle from KaiserCraft decorative dies - nesting scallop circles for the sentiment. The background paper is from the Awakening Paper Pack also by La-La Land Crafts.
I have stamped Ferns and Fungi stamp on to X-Press It Blending card using Rich Cocoa Memento ink and then coloured with the following Copics:
  • mushrooms - R24, R46, R59, C1, C3, C5, E70, E71, E74, E77, E79, white gel pen
  • violets - B60, B63, B66
  • butterfly - B63, B66, R24, YR23, C5
  • ferns - YG03, YG21, BG72
  • geraniums - YG03, YG21, BG72, BG75
  • grass - YG03, YG17
  • snail - YR23, E71, E74
  • soil - E70, E71, YG23, YG21
  • sky - BG0000, BG000, B00, BG01
  • outline - B66
I found inspiration from Nancy Sheads, who is part of the Power Poppy DT and as usual, from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder and her fantastic monthly classes.

I used Elderberry Memento ink to stamp the sentiment and then adhered everything to a white square card from Envelope Solutions.

Here are also photos of the card taken outside and inside:

Here are some close ups of the colouring of the image:

As I was taking the photos outside, William decided that he wanted to get in the photo!

I would like to add this card to the following challenges:

I hope that Nat likes the card, although with the delays in postage at the moment, it may have not arrived yet!

Not Just Cards September 2018 Challenge

Not Just Cards is having a new challenge starting today the 11th of September!
The theme for the September 2018 Challenge is "Anything Goes".
To join in the fun, click on the following link:

I finished colouring this image a while ago for my son Christofer to put on his door as he loves Firemen and Fire Engines - typical little boy!
I just need to frame it and write his name.
I am also colouring an image of a ballerina for my daughter Abigayle, as she loves dancing.

Both of these images are part of the monthly classes from the wonderful Alyce at Kit and Clowder.

The firemen is from La-La Land Crafts - Fireman Luka.

Here are a few progression shots:

I would like to enter this into a few challenges:

PixScan mat

Last night I used my Silhouette Cameo with my new PixScan mat - it is a new mat from Silhouette that enables you to scan and then cut out images using your Silhouette cutting tool!
I have been wanting something like this for ages, as I really do not like fussy cutting.... :(

So I had digitally printed some La-La Land Crafts images - Catching Butterflies Marci, Handyman Luka and Gone Fishing Luka on to X-Press It blending card. Then I took a photo of it with my iPod (this has to be calibrated for the PixScan software by importing in a photo of a piece of paper printed with a bunch of dots - bit tedious, as it doesn't really explain how to do it until you have made a mistake!)
The photo of your images on the mat needs to be imported into the latest version of the Silhouette Studio 3 software - there should be a PixScan icon in the upper left corner.
Then you just trace around the images and change to cut settings in the Silhouette software, before loading the PixScan mat into the Silhouette cutter and then sending the image to Silhouette to cut.

Here is a photo of my page already cut with the Silhouette, but still on the PixScan mat:

Here is a photo of the images cut out and ready to be coloured:

Overall I think this new mat is a great idea! About time someone came out with it!

If you want to see it on Amazon, click on the widget on the right.

You are Sew Special with Sewing Faerie Marci

Here is my latest creation - it is a stair card using the latest stamps and dies from the Club La-La Land Crafts.

This month we received stamps of Sewing Faerie Marci, a thimble and cotton reel and then dies of a swatch of fabric, buttons and some scissors.
I stamped Sewing Faerie Marci, the thimble and cotton reel on to X-Press It paper using Memento ink. Then I coloured them in with the following Copics:

  • skin - E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20, lipstick Spica
  • hair -  E18, E15, YR23, Y21
  • wings - B000, clear Spica
  • skirt/shirt/headband/shoes - V12, V15, V17
  • flower on headband - RV13, RV17, clear Spica
  • blanket - Y11, Y15, Y17, YG13, YG17
  • thread - YG17
  • needle - Y28, clear Spica
  • background - V000
  • thimble - C1, C3, C5
  • cotton reel - E31, E33, E35, YG13, YG17

Using the swatch of fabric die, I die cut from core Couture Glitter card stock (core'dinations), also for the scissors. I also die cut a square using a square die from KaiserCraft with the glitter card stock.
For the buttons, I used a paper from a freebie paper stack called Sweet wishes (Australian papercraft essentials). I knotted twine and embroidery floss in the holes of the buttons.

The sentiment was stamped on to X-Press It paper and then highlighted using milled lavender Distress Ink (Tim Holtz).

The card base is AC Card stock, folded into a stair card according to Beate Johns instructions from Split Coast Stampers.
The scissors are put together with a gold brad from my stash.
Everything is adhered to the card using double-sided tape (X-press It) and adhesive foam squares (paper craft).

This card is for sale on my Etsy shop: JemLou Productions. Click here for the link to the listing.
