Christmas Gift Boxes for Penny For Your Thoughts (Use a Sentiment) at Let's Craft & Create Challenge on the 5th of January 2024

For this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create Challenge Blog, we have the optional theme of

Penny for your Thoughts (Use a Sentiment)

I decided to showcase the little boxes I made for Christmas using a Mini Gift Box tutorial from Irina and La-La Land Crafts products.

So, here are the two boxes I made - I unfortunately did not take a photo in my photo box of the two of them together:

I have used the "leftover" coloured images from my gift tags which used the Warm Holidays Bundle, coloured with Copics - all the details can be found here
I followed Irina's tutorial and used the Gift Card Envelope Die with white card stock and the tree and star die cut from the same set with gold and silver card stock. The paper is Very Merry Paper Pack and I used red card stock for the matting and inside of the boxes - I also used scraps of the Very Merry Paper Pack for the insides and adhered some red card stock to the other side of the box.

The sentiments were stamped with Onyx Black Versafine ink and my MISTI on to white card stock die cut with Stitched Ribbon Die. I then cut the little flag ends!

The sentiment flags and critters were adhered to the top of the box with foam tape.

Here are some photos of the individual boxes, from the top, side and angled:
Deer box:

Dog box:

The inside of the box is big enough for a gift card, but I used one of the Large Stitched Tags Dies to die cut a tag in white card stock - I adhered one of the little gold or silver trees, wrote my message and attached some twine.

I would like to enter this card into a few challenges:
Mix It Up Challenge MIUCB #69 - Anything Goes + Optional Mixed Media
Christmas Kickstart Challenge #82 - The Midas Touch - I have some gold on my little boxes!

Let's Craft and Create Challenges are monthly and go live on the 5th of every month and you have until the end of the month to add your creations which can be anything goes plus an optional theme.

So on to my card this week!

I have done something different this week - no colouring!
I have put together a paper tole topper from Forever Friends Kraft Notes - I think I bought the pack from a really cool craft store down in Tasmania. I used some 3D adhesive foam squares from my stash. Then I have used a square of paper from the same pack. I highlighted the edges of both using Summer Sky Memento ink.
The Merry Christmas ribbon and the little ribbon bow are from an American Crafts Christmas double-sided ribbon pack that I have in my stash.

There is inspiration from both the Icicles and the Snowflakes DT on the Winter Wonderland blog, so please pop over to everyone's blog by clicking in their name. We always appreciate a comment or two! :) Also you can find out what other challenges are out there, which could give you ideas!

Snowflakes - Winter Wonderland Challenge for 3rd of June, 2016 - again, better late than never!

Well, I am late again this week - work has been so busy and I have been coming home and just falling asleep, so no time for even thinking about a card!

The challenge for this week at Winter Wonderland chosen by Cindy is SNOWFLAKES

I love snow, you can probably tell that by my signature! Also I did not grow up around snow, being from Adelaide, South Australia, I have just experienced the magic of snow when I lived in the States and Germany for about 12 years. So this challenge is right up my alley.

I have had this "Winter Snowflake Lace" designer stencil from Memory Box for ages so I have used that on the background of my card from Envelope Solutions, dabbing Summer Sky Memento ink.

I then coloured one of my favourite La-La Land Craft stamps - Snowflake Garland Marci - I love her hair and dress! I have the digi stamp which was printed on to X-Press It card and then cut using my Silhouette Cameo. I used the following Copics pens:

  • skin: E000, E00, E21, E11, E04, R20
  • hair: E53, E35, E47
  • dress, boots and hair ribbons: BV0000, BV02, BV04, BV08
  • background: B000, B00
I coloured her lips with dark pink Wink of Stella and highlighted the frills of her boots and dress with clear Wink of Stella. The snowflake garland is coloured with silver Wink of Stella.

The background of the "Merry Christmas" sentiment is also coloured with B000 and B00.

Here is my card:

This week our wonderful sponsors are:
Little Claire, who are offering the winner their choice of 6 images

and Drawn with Character, who have a prize of a 10 pound voucher

We again have two fabulous sponsors this week:

Here is my creation using Santa Marci and Sunny Christmas Luka from La-La Land Crafts:

Power Poppy Rewind Challenge

I have been really getting into Power Poppy stamps! They suit me to a T - beautiful flowers, beautiful script writing for the sentiments and some gorgeous Christmas stamps. Also they come in digital, as well as clear stamps. I now have started a collection of both, I even suggested that I receive a gift certificate for Christmas! :)

So on to the latest challenge that I have joined. Power Poppy are running their Rewind challenge this month, which means that we pick one of the 10 challenges from this year. I chose Gifts from the Heart, as I had coloured this beautiful Glittering Glass Santa before Christmas and I was trying to think of a way to use him. I finally received some Power Poppy clear stamps that I ordered. I was hoping that I would see them before Christmas, but it was not to be - I'll remember to order a lot earlier in the year next year! Regardless, the customer support by Marcella was fantastic! Anyway, there is a sentiment that went well with my colouring and the little gift card that I wanted to use.

Here is my gift card:

The Glittering Glass Santa is printed on X-Press It card then coloured with the following Copics:
Red of Santa's coat and berries - R32, R35, R37
Green of tree and gloves - G02, G05, G07
Green of plant - YG63, YG67
Face of Santa - E000, E00, R20
Top of Santa (hanging part) - Y28
Background - B000
White fur of coat - clear Wink of Stella

The Merry Christmas stamp is a sentiment from the Poinsettia Stamp Set that I notice is still on sale!
I stamped the Merry Christmas in Vintage Sepia Versafine Ink.
The kraft card is from Envelope Solutions. Glittering Glass Santa is attached to the card with foam dots.

I hope to be posting a lot more in the coming year - I am going to work on my shop and I also made a commitment to myself to sit down and make more cards! Also I have a lot of new stamps and things to play with!!
